Notice is hereby given that the City of Monte Sereno is accepting applications for appointment to the City Council to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Vice Mayor Ellahie, effective August 5, 2025.
The term of this Council seat is from the date of appointment to December 2026.
Candidate Qualifications
Candidates must meet all the following qualifications at the time the application is submitted:
• Be 18 years of age,
• Reside within the incorporated limits of the City of Monte Sereno, and
• Be registered to vote in the City of Monte Sereno.
Applications Available
Applications are available at City Hall, 18041 Saratoga Los Gatos Road between the hours of 9:00am to 12:00pm and from 1:00pm to 4:00pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and online at https://www.montesereno.org/. In addition to the application, a letter of interest (200 words maximum) shall be submitted.
Application Deadline
Completed applications along with a letter of interest (200 words maximum) shall be returned to the City Clerk by 5:00pm on Friday, September 12, 2025. Applications can be submitted in person at City Hall, 18041 Saratoga Los Gatos Road between the hours of 9:00am to 12:00pm and from 1:00pm to 4:00pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or by email to cityclerk@cityofmontesereno.org.
Candidate Interviews
At a Special Meeting of the City Council on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 3:00pm, each qualified candidate will be asked to make a maximum five-minute presentation to the City Council. The applicant may then be asked to respond to questions the City Council may have regarding their presentation or application. The order in which the applicants will make their presentation will be determined by a random draw. The random draw will take place at the beginning of the meeting.
