Notice is hereby given that the City of Monte Sereno is accepting applications from residents wishing to serve as Monte Sereno’s Alternate on the Silicon Valley Clean Energy Authority Board of Directors.
Silicon Valley Clean Energy (“SVCE”) is a joint powers authority that is a “community choice aggregator.” SVCE began providing services to customers in 2017 for its 13 member communities. SVCE offers clean power at stable rates, reducing energy-related greenhouse emissions and enabling millions of dollars of reinvestment in local energy programs. SVCE is increasing access to clean energy, serving the needs of its customers and the well-being of its community by delivering positive environmental impacts and local economic benefits.
SVCE is governed by its Board of Directors. Each member agency appoints a Representative and an Alternate to the Board of Directors. The Alternate position can be a member of the City Council or a resident of the appointing jurisdiction.
Meetings of the full Board of Directors are scheduled every month. There is also an Executive Committee, a Finance and Administration Committee, an Audit Committee, and an Ad Hoc Regulatory and Legislative Committee, with members appointed by the Board of Directors that review and report to the Board on various matters.
The SVCE Board consists of 13 members and meets every month on the second Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Sunnyvale Civic Center (456 W. Olive Ave., Sunnyvale, CA), unless otherwise noted.
The appointed Alternate shall serve a term expiring December 31, 2026.
The Alternate for the City of Monte Sereno on the SVCE Board shall be a resident of the City of Monte Sereno, a registered voter, and have particular interest in SVCE.
Persons interested in serving as an Alternate on the Silicon Valley Clean Board should submit an application to the City Clerk. The application can be obtained at City Hall or from the City’s website at https://www.montesereno.org/2192/City-Clerk. Consideration of the applications and appointments by the City Council are tentatively set for 7:00 p.m., Tuesday January 20, 2026.
