NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Monte Sereno is accepting applications from residents wishing to serve on the Monte Sereno Better Streets Commission.
The purpose of the Better Streets Commission is to advise the City Manager on the design, operations and maintenance of the Monte Sereno Street system through putting people’s safety first, considering pedestrians, bicyclists, transit, traffic controls, lighting, vehicular circulation and parking. It shall identify and advise on integrated, coordinated, environmentally sustainable and economically efficient street rehabilitation solutions that address multiple demands on the street system such as underground utilities, street trees, stormwater management and contamination runoff issues.
The Commission shall consist of five members of the public selected by a majority of the City Council. In addition, one member of the Youth Commission shall serve on the Commission as an Ex Officio member.
All members of the Commission shall be residents and registered voters of the City of Monte Sereno and shall have backgrounds, experience and/or interest in traffic, bicycle, and pedestrian safety, street standards, storm water management, and/or sustainable infrastructure.
Three members shall be appointed to serve a two-year term expiring December 31, 2027.
The Commission falls under the Political Reform Act of 1974 and financial disclosure is required.
Persons interested in serving on the Better Streets Commission should apply with the City Clerk. Applicants may also submit a maximum of two letters of recommendation from Monte Sereno residents.
