In January 2025, the Monte Sereno City Council approved an agreement with Flock Safety Group for the installation and maintenance of 19 automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras. The majority of the cameras have recently been installed around the City.
The cameras detect and take still-images of vehicles and license plates. They do not detect or take pictures of people, record video, or capture the speed which vehicles are traveling. The images are only available to the Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department (LSMSPD) and by other police departments with which they share the information.
