Dear Monte Sereno Residents,
On February 24, 2025, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) published revised Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps. These changes are part of an effort to enhance wildfire preparedness and safety across California. These maps classify areas into “Moderate,” “High,” and “Very High” fire hazard zones based on factors like vegetation, slope, and fire weather conditions. Find out more Information on the revised Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps and provide comments.
The City Council is required to adopt these changes within 120 days of the map’s release and is scheduled to consider adoption at the June 3, 2025 City Council meeting.
