The recent fires in Los Angeles County have brought much attention to the need for wildfire and emergency preparedness. Our thoughts go out to all those who were affected.
What can Monte Sereno residents do to prepare for such an emergency?
First, sign up for emergency alerts with AlertSCC, if you haven't done so already. This website also includes information to Make a Plan, Build an Emergency Supply Kit, and Help Family, Friends and Neighbors.
Next, prepare ahead of time for emergencies, such as wildfire. On the City of Monte Sereno's website under the Residents tab, very helpful information can be found under the Emergency Preparedness tab for Fire Safety, such as Be Ready for a Wildfire, Community Wildfire Safety Program, Home Fire Safety Inspection Checklist, and Make a GO Bag.
Other useful information can be found under the Documents & Helpful Information section, including 72-Hour Emergency Preparedness Kit Checklist, Family Emergency Preparedness Planning Guide, and Personal Emergency Preparedness (PEP) Course.
Finally, Santa Clare County Fire Department offers free home safety courses.
