Ken Toren, Councilmember
Ken Toren transforms business leadership into a lifelong force for humanitarian good, guided by a clear vision to create positive impact and a mission to serve and uplift communities with unwavering passion.
As Regional Vice President and Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association across Northern California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii, he leads efforts to accelerate research, champion advocacy and public policy, and expand programs that support caregivers and families impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia. He is grateful to work alongside such inspirational and dedicated staff, volunteers, and Board leaders.
Ken’s career spans both nonprofits and start-ups, where he has worn the hats of CEO, co-founder, and executive leader in healthcare, technology, finance, and media. In the nonprofit arena, he has guided organizations including the American Red Cross, Hope Services, Parkinson’s Institute, UCSF, and Cancer CAREpoint—mobilizing over $600 million in fundraising and expanding life-changing services in disaster relief, disability employment, biomedical research, and community health. In the private sector, he has raised over $20 million in venture capital, driven multimillion-dollar revenues, and successfully steered mergers and acquisitions.
A proud Philadelphia native, Ken holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Penn State and Temple University. He celebrates his wife, a local television executive, delights in his three children who bring him immense joy and pride, treasures every day with Teo, his rescue dog...and cheers—loudly—for the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, and Flyers.
