Notice of Recruitment for Library Commissioner
Notice is hereby given that the City of Monte Sereno is accepting applications from residents wishing to serve as Monte Sereno’s Representative on the Saratoga Library Commission.
The Library Commission provides counsel and recommendations on library policies, budgets, plans and procedures to the Saratoga City Council and staff, the Santa Clara County Library staff, and the Saratoga Library supervisor. The Library Commission has no administrative authority over the library's operations but does participate in the general planning of the library operation and library- related programs and policies. One member is nominated by the City of Monte Sereno.
The mission of the Saratoga Library Commission is to ensure that access is provided to informational, educational and recreational library materials and services that respond to evolving community needs. The Commission advises the Saratoga City Council regarding the library facility and grounds, as well as current library issues. The Commission guides the Santa Clara County Library Joint Powers Authority Board regarding library budgets, policies, plans and procedures.
The Commission consists of five (5) members and meets every other month (even numbered months) on the 4th Wednesday, 12:00 p.m. in the Saratoga Library Community Room.
The appointed member shall serve a term expiring September 30, 2025.
The Monte Sereno representative to the Library Commission shall be a resident and registered voter of the City of Monte Sereno and have particular interest in the Community Library.
