  • Adopt a resolution certifying the final environmental impact report (FEIR) for a general plan amendment, zoning code amendment, and pre-zoning of parcels at 18440 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road; and
  • Adopt the proposed general plan amendment to authorize a multi-family land use designation with an allowable density range of 3-8 dwelling units per acre for the project site; and
  • Introduce a zoning ordinance creating a residential multi-family zoning district with an allowable density range of 3-8 dwelling units per acre; and
  • Introduce an ordinance establishing the prezoning for the subject property consistent with the proposed multi-family zoning ordinance.

The City is proposing these actions as part of the process to implement Housing Element Program H-3.10 to allow for multi-family housing opportunities.

The City Council is conducting a public meeting to hear public comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for a general plan amendment, zoning code amendment, and pre-zoning of parcels at 18440 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road (hereinafter “proposed project”).  The City is proposing these changes as part of the process to implement Housing Element Program H-3.10  to allow for multifamily housing opportunities.

In implementing its duties under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the City of Monte Sereno, serving as Lead Agency, has prepared a DEIR for the proposed project. As specified by CEQA guidelines, the DEIR will be circulated for a 45-day review period from April 29, 2013 to June 13, 2013.  

The DEIR is available to be viewed at the City of Monte Sereno City Hall, located at 18041 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road, Monte Sereno, California.  The document can also be viewed and downloaded from the City’s web site at: www.cityofmontesereno.org. RESOLUTION NO. 3500

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MONTE SERENO

DECLARING NOXIOUS AND DANGEROUS WEEDS AND RUBBISH, REFUSE AND DIRT TO BE A PUBLIC NUISANCE

            WHEREAS, certain weeds, dirt, rubbish and other hazardous material are growing, located or existing upon private property or properties, and in sidewalks, streets or alleys within the City of Monte Sereno; and

            WHEREAS, said weeds are of a kind which, when mature, bear wingy or downy seeds and which attain such a large growth as to become a fire menace when dry, or which are otherwise noxious or dangerous, and which weeds are seasonal and recurrent nuisances; and

            WHEREAS, said weeds, dirt, rubbish and other hazardous material constitutes a public nuisance and require the abatement thereof as provided by law,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City ofMonte Sereno, as follows:

1.That the said weeds, dirt, rubbish and other hazardous material do constitute and will continue to constitute a public nuisance and that the said public nuisance should be abated in the manner provided in Chapter 2 entitled “Weed Abatement” of Title 8 of the Monte Sereno Municipal Code.

2. After the passage of this Resolution, The Fire Marshal shall cause notice of its passage to be conspicuously posted in three (3) prominent places in the City ofMonte Sereno at least ten days prior to the time fixed by the City Council for hearing objections, and which notice shall be in the form prescribed in Section 8-2.06 of the Monte Sereno Municipal Code.

3. The City Council shall hear and consider all objections to the proposed destruction or removal of weeds, dirt, rubbish or other hazardous material at a public hearing to be held at 7:30 p.m. on the 15th day of January, 2013, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 18041Saratoga-Los Gatos Road, Monte Sereno,California. By motion or resolution at the conclusion of said hearing the City Council shall allow or overrule any objections. If objections have not been made, or after the City Council has disposed of those made, it shall order by motion or resolution the Fire Marshal to abate the nuisance by having the weeds, dirt, rubbish or hazardous material removed as provided in Chapter 2 of Title 8 of the Monte Sereno Municipal Code, and the expense thereof assessed upon the lots and lands from which, and/or in the front and rear of which, such weeds, dirt, rubbish or other hazardous material shall have been destroyed or removed, unless such nuisance be abated within thirty (30) days after the adoption of this Resolution, or within the time specified in a written agreement with the Fire Marshal, or his representatives, whichever time shall be later, by the destruction or removal of such weeds, dirt, rubbish or other hazardous material.

Dear Resident:

You are invited to participate in a public meeting to review the progress of the Highway 9 Pedestrian Safety Improvement project extending from downtownSaratogatoLos Gatos Boulevard, within the city/town limits ofSaratoga, Monte Sereno andLos Gatos. The meeting will start at 7:30 PM on November 19, 2012 (Monday) at theMonteSerenoCity Hall, located at 18041Saratoga-Los Gatos Road(atRose Avenue). Limited parking is available behind the City Hall and on nearby public streets. The meeting will be convened by the Highway 9 Ad-hoc Committee comprising two City Council members from each of the three local agencies and/or their staff. Caltrans representatives are also invited to attend this meeting.

The project will provide a paved pedestrian path along one side of theSaratoga-Los Gatos Road(the State Route 9). The project is funded with Federal grants and local funds fromSaratoga, Monte Sereno andLos Gatos. The design consultant will provide the project design details, progress to date and anticipated construction schedule of the next phases. Your comments will be most welcome at or after the meeting.
