Meeting Minutes

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER 7:04PM
ROLL CALL – Present: Joanne Trembath, Simon Ellis, Burton Craig, Rose Arnaudo, Suzanne Jackson, Jeff Balfus,
Members absent: Jeff Balfus, Louis Braddi
Guest: Councilmember Lana Malloy
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS - none
ORAL COMMUNICATION (3 MINUTE LIMIT) –
Commissioner Craig would like the commission to consider a “Community Garden”. He asked if city had any land that could be used. Chair Trembath stated that she would pursue this with city manager.
APPROVE MINUTES OF May 4, 2009: As presented : Ayes, Trembath, Craig, Ellis, Arnaudo. Abstention : Jackson ( not present at that meeting)
NEW BUSINESS
1. Commissioner Ellis proposed the new budget for upcoming events.(attached) .
2. Commissioner stressed the importance of advertizing to the MS community though city and local newsletter, and appropriate mailers.. Chair Trembath re-iterated the importance of banners placed strategically around the city to advertise these events.
a. Budget was adjusted to include more allocation to the advertising item line
b. Fun Run/Picnic scheduled for Sunday, Sept 20 . City will provide bananas, oranges and bottled water after the run.
c. Holiday cards and tree lighting scheduled for Tuesday , Dec 1 prior to the council meeting at city hall (Budget increased ( $850) to increase lighting allocation to include the Post Office and the WHOLE tree in front of city hall) .
d. Punch and cookies to be served
e. Golf Tournament – Tentatively scheduled for Oct.5 at La Rinconada Golf Club. Commissioner Balfus is the lead
f. Anniversary Quail Run Scheduled for May 15, 2010
3. Budget to be presented to Council on June 15 by Chair (Trembath) and Vice Chair (Craig). An additional $500 for miscellaneous items to be added to the budget.
4. Suggestion that a member of the community be scheduled to present interesting city information at all regular meetings.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Councilmember Malloy stressed the goal of the commission was to digitize the historical information that was presented at the city’s 50th anniversary. She stated that the information was the property of the city and needs to be placed on the city’s website.
Commissioner Jackson will review her files to find the council presentation by former commissioner Doug McNeil. J. Trembath will also follow though with city manager.
