New Business:
1. Discuss Fall Political Speaker Event
Commissioner Stutchman notified the Commission that he had contacted Ira Ruskin, but had found out that the assemblyman was busy. Commissioner Stutchman had also attempted to contact Jim Ball, but has not heard back from him yet. The Commission then decided that the Fall Political Speaker Event would be cancelled. The Commission then discussed alternatives. Suggestions were a Cheese Role, an economic speaker, a community service event, and “Comedy Sports.” For next meeting the Commission decided that each Commissioner should think about ideas for speakers and community service, as well as speak to their friends about activities they would be interested in.
2. Discuss Holiday Parade
The Commission finalized their commitment to the Holiday Parade. Themes that were brought up were Winter Wonderland, the economic stimulus package, or a multi-cultural theme. The Commission also decided on asking Mayor Erin Garner for his truck to use in the Holiday Parade. The possibility of using Christmas lights on the car and wearing Monte Sereno Youth Commission tee-shirts was also brought up during the discussion. A task force, consisting of Commissioners Hess, Stutchman, Done, and Williams, would oversee the details of the Holiday Parade.
3. Discuss Spring Youth Event
The Commission discussed the possibility of organizing a dance at the Venue or at the Monte Sereno Town Hall. Coordination with either the Los Gatos or Saratoga Youth Commissions was suggested. It was decided that Commissioner Katta would look into DJs for the dance and Commissioners Hess and/or McNeil would contact the Venue in order to find out costs and dates. The Commission also decided on participating in a Spring Event called the American Litter Pickup on April 12.
At 4:45 P.M., the Monte Sereno Youth Commission meeting was adjourned.
