Shawn Leuthold

Shawn Leuthold received his J.D. (cum laude) with a certificate in High-Technology Law from Santa Clara University in 1995. As a practicing business and family law attorney for over 20 years, he handles matters ranging from business start-ups and complex litigation to family law. He advises clients in both Mandarin Chinese and English. Prior to attending law school, his background was in business administration, where he worked for several years as a public relations and marketing manager in the tech industry.

Shawn grew up in Colorado, Oregon, and California. He met his wife of 30 years, Amy, while studying in Taiwan. They have two grown daughters who attended Los Gatos public schools.

Shawn and his family originally lived in the Cambrian neighborhood of San Jose before moving to Seattle, where he practiced law for several years. His family has lived in Monte Sereno since returning to the Bay Area in 2007.

In his free time, Shawn enjoys reading, woodworking, classic cars and travelling.

As your representative, his priorities are:

• Finding solutions to the state housing mandate and keeping Monte Sereno in compliance with State law. His specific ideas include forming a citizens’ commission to explore regional solutions and lobbying for change in Sacramento.

• Continuing to improve transparency and communications between the council, city staff and community through the earlier publication of City Council agendas.

• Organizing local events to increase emergency preparedness and public safety.

• Overseeing the city budget process and avoiding unnecessary litigation.

Shawn is excited to work with the council for positive change. Please reach out with your concerns or ideas to improve our community and our local government.
